the King. White could have played maybe d6 to get ridd of the Queen, but
now he will be in trouble

16 ..Qxd2 was much better. After 17. Nxd2 Nxa6, 18. b5 is not dangerous.
While Black would still be in a bad jam, would maybe survives at least
for some time.
