Computer programming experience

  • The code of a program to solve the linearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation was written as the final work for the graduation studies. It solves numerically the above mentioned linear second order partial derivative equation on a spatial cubic grid. This code was written in `C'.

  • A program to calculate the electronic structure of isolated atoms from first principles, was developed as Ph.D. work. It uses the Density Functional Theory formalism together with the Local Spin Density Approximation. Atoms are not assumed to have a spherical symmetry, so that the underlying equations have to be solved numerically over the three-dimensional space (actually still a cylindrical symmetry is present and a two-dimensional space can be considered instead). It is a fully relativistic program which deals with Dirac bispinors then. It is roughly 7000 lines long and is written in `C' with a matrix diagonalization subroutine in `Fortran 77' taken from the LAPACK libraries.

  • The source code of a sophisticated program using the Layer-Korringa-Kohn-Rostocker method to calculate the electronic properties of surfaces and to calculate photoemission spectra, was analyzed in order to get acquainted with the method and to use it. It has been written in `Fortran 77' by others. I have written several utilities in `Perl' to deal with output data. The knowledge of the `Postscript' language was also necessary.

  • I'm able to perform electronic band structure calculations using programs implementing the Linear-Muffin-Tin-Orbital scheme and Full-Potential-Local-Orbital scheme.
  • Creation of software for the study of the statistical properties of Mars surface.
  • Development of software for the generation and statistical analysis of complex networks.
  • Development of utility software in the Linux environment.
